How States Foment Mass Hysteria with Philipp Bagus
Ever since reading The Crucible in tenth grade, I have always been quite interested in the phenomenon of mass hysteria. I almost started a podcast on the subject, chronicling history’s hysterias. As it turns out, I’m not much of a hystorian (though I do secretly hope someone steals the idea).
When I heard today’s guest, Philipp Bagus, had co-authored a paper on the current mass hysteria surrounding the covid-19 pandemic, I needed to talk to him. I know you’ll enjoy and be enlightened by this brief chat!
Philipp’s paper, Covid-19 and the Political Economy of Mass Hysteria, published in International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.

The German Ministry of the Interior paper mentioned, the title of which translates to “How We Get Covid-19 Under Control”, and the body of which is entirely in German (you have been warned)
